Simple Anti-spam Telegram Bot

A current Python bot for newcomer confirmation, used in private Telegram groups.

Project status: Active

When an ordinary user joins a group, the bot sends a welcome message with a confirmation button and schedules a timeout task. It can initially restrict the newcomer’s permissions. The confirmation handler checks that the person pressing the button is the intended newcomer, cancels the scheduled task, and attempts to update their permissions. If the timeout task runs while the account is still a member, it attempts to ban that account.

The application uses aiogram and an aiohttp webhook server for Telegram events, with APScheduler and a SQLAlchemy-backed SQLite job store for delayed tasks. Message templates and timing settings are configurable, and the repository includes container deployment configuration.

The bot is used in private groups and remains a current project. It is an onboarding gate, not a general-purpose spam detector: pressing a button does not prove that an account is human. No measured effectiveness or restart-recovery guarantees are claimed.
